4 Ways To Care For Sunburns

sunburnsSunburns occur when you spend too much time in the sun with insufficient protection. Sometimes they are just skin with a little extra redness, but in other cases your skin will peel or blister. In all cases, sunburns are quite uncomfortable. Because of this as well as the potential issues of not treating your sunburn, it is important to start caring for your condition as soon as possible. Here are four simple things you can do to care for sunburns:

Take Cool Showers and Baths

Cool water can help relieve a great deal of the pain from your sunburns. We recommend starting with a cool bath, as sometimes showers can agitate the skin from the force of the water stream. You can try this method as many times as you want. Just remember to pat dry, leaving a small amount of water on your skin, and moisturize to lock it in.

Apply Aloe Vera

Aloe has great soothing properties, particularly when it comes to helping your sunburns. Gently apply lotion containing aloe as often as needed until your sunburn is healed. Alternatively, you can apply aloe directly if you have your own aloe plant. Just snap open a leave and use the gel inside.

Drink More Water

You need to keep your skin hydrated in order for it to heal as fast as possible. Thus, when you have a sunburn make sure you take extra care to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. If you can, try to drink a little more to have that extra boost!

Wear Loose Clothing

Tight clothes can make the pain of your sunburn worse, so wear loose clothing whenever possible while your skin heals. If you want to have the best possible recovery and prevent future burns as well as making sure your sunburns do not get worse, wear loose clothing that covers where your burn is located. This helps protect your skin against the sun’s harmful rays.
